Public Health Dentistry

The Department promotes oral health through preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative care while educating the community. Services extend to rural areas, satellite centres, schools, Tibetan settlements, and remote locations via a mobile dental unit. Interns gain hands-on experience, and patients are referred to specialists when needed. Community outreach includes health camps, awareness campaigns, radio talks, exhibitions, street plays, and educational programs using visual aids.

On International Menstrual Hygiene Day, the NSS unit of Coorg Institute of Dental Sciences organized an awareness program for 1st-year female undergraduates and non-teaching female staff. Dr. Nischala delivered an enlightening health talk, addressing menstrual hygiene and dispelling myths. The program, held in the auditorium from 2pm to 4pm, aimed to educate, empower, and break the stigma surrounding menstruation, fostering a supportive environment for menstrual health discussions among 100 attendees, and the program was concluded by giving a token of appreciation to Dr.Nischala by Dr.Radhika B.
